Lucky money, for a prosperous year
As Lunar New Year nears, many people go to the bank to exchange for fresh banknotes as a good omen. In Taiwan, people have lately formed a new habit of asking a bank for a lucky money card that has absorbed the bank’s good fortune, keeping it at the wealth corner of the home or carrying it all year to invite luck and prosperity.
Since its founding, Fubon Bank China has treated a better customer experience as one of its goals. For this Lunar New Year Creative Design, the bank prepared a lucky gift for customers on the mainland and commissioned a three-dimensional lucky money card matching the zodiac sign, one that customers can display at home or in the office, wishing them a year full of fortune in the Year of the Golden Rat.
An almanac for every day
In the Lunar New Year creative design, the card comes with an almanac so that each day of the year carries a bit of cultural wisdom. Known on the mainland as the Chinese almanac, it is widely used in Taiwan and lists daily auspicious and inauspicious activities, from weddings and funerals to buying a home, opening a business and breaking ground, along with solar term dates and zodiac fortunes.
For folk customs to be passed on, the new generation must find them easy to accept and understand. Expressing folk culture through innovative design makes it fun and stylish.

Year of the Ox lucky goods
With Lunar New Year approaching, the Lunar New Year creative design extended to lucky goods for Fubon Bank China and AIA, so that good luck goes along with everyone through the Year of the Ox.
What is a distinctive way to bring good luck for the new year? A lucky money gift is a powerful charm: fresh banknotes that have absorbed the bank’s fortune, carrying wishes for a steady and abundant flow of wealth. The Year of the Ox set follows the Rat set designed for Fubon Bank China the year before, keeping the design style unified and continuous.
The card features a cartoon God of Wealth ox. The ox’s diligence combines with the God of Wealth’s power to attract money for double the luck. The card can be carried in a wallet or kept on a desk, so good fortune is always close.
Twelve zodiac sets
Paired with the almanac, a guide to daily life full of rules for inviting good fortune and avoiding bad, the set gives guidance for everyday choices. The Lunar New Year creative design is planned as a twelve-zodiac series of lucky money sets for Fubon Bank China, with other zodiac designs to come.
AIA
The Lunar New Year creative design also reached AIA, with lucky money cards of its own. A lively “energetic ox” combines with the mountain peak that represents the AIA Group, standing for the aspiration to keep climbing higher. For the AIA New Year red packets, geometric shapes deconstruct the ox, and a colorful range of packets lets good luck surround the whole year.
An ongoing partnership
