Canaan Winery Wineshop

Following the brand identity upgrade for Canaan Winery, Taasdesign carried out the spatial planning and interior design of the Canaan Winery Wine Shop, integrating the new brand identity into the exhibition space. More than a display venue, the gallery serves as a comprehensive brand experience center that brings together people, products, and space, enabling visitors to intuitively engage with the brand story, values, and product offerings.

Design Concept

Canaan Winery actively responds to the national planning and initiatives for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the Beijing–Zhangjiakou Sports and Cultural Tourism Belt. Looking ahead, the company plans to gradually strengthen its wine industry development while integrating regional eco-tourism and local cultural experience projects, in order to explore and build a more diversified and sustainable long-term growth strategy.

Let Fine Wines Be Presented in Their Most Refined Form

The wine shop will serve as an essential destination that all visitors to Canaan Winery should not miss. Beyond creating a visually compelling spatial experience, Canaan Winery also required the design team to ensure ample storage capacity within the space, while maintaining flexibility for future use and expansion.

Therefore, the design approach not only focuses on curating and presenting content in a meaningful way, but also carefully considers functional layout planning. Within a limited space, the project achieves an optimal balance between aesthetics, functionality, and long-term adaptability.

Wood Tones and Wine-Inspired Lighting

Rather than prioritizing pure functionality, the design places greater emphasis on aesthetics, presenting wine in its most elegant form within the exhibition space and creating an immersive atmosphere for enjoying fine wines.

The overall space is defined by refined and elegant wood tones, while the wine-inspired ceiling lighting forms a flowing, undulating composition. Resembling layers of rolling mountains, it serves as a visual reflection of the rich and fertile terroir of the Huailai wine region.

Wine Glass Lighting as a Brilliant Galaxy

The most visually striking feature of the entire space—and also one of the greatest design challenges for the team—lies in the ceiling installation: a bespoke wine glass lighting system created exclusively for Canaan Winery, resembling a shimmering galaxy.

The early-stage lighting design and prototyping process took several months. Through persistent dedication to craftsmanship and detail, the team ultimately brought to life a constellation-like installation that allows every visitor to Canaan Winery to experience a unique and poetic field of light.

The ceiling is finished with rippled metal panels, which interact with the wine glass lighting to produce a shimmering, water-like reflection, creating a sense of flowing radiance across the surface. The central island is elevated to bar height, encouraging guests to pause, taste, and engage in conversation within the space.

Design Details in the Subtle Moments

The pegboard systems integrated into cabinetry on both sides are designed to support future display and retail of cultural and branded merchandise. Concealed cabinet doors allow the space to be closed off when needed, creating a more calm and restrained spatial atmosphere. This ensures that the exhibition space can express both dynamism and serenity in different modes.

More than a display venue, the wine shop serves as a comprehensive brand experience center that integrates people, products, and space, enabling a direct and intuitive communication of the brand identity and product information, while offering every visitor to Canaan Winery a distinctive and immersive brand experience.
